Introduced to hiking at 22, she quickly fell in love with the trails, especially in the Eastern Sierra, her favorite place to explore.
Abbey Nelson
Abbey Nelson, based in Denver, Colorado, embodies the spirit of adventure and creativity. With a passion for exploring the outdoors and capturing these adventures through her photography, Abbey seamlessly blends her love for nature with artistic expression. Raised in a family that cherished outdoor activities, Abbey's adventurous spirit was nurtured from a young age, leading her to pursue a life filled with exploration.
Alex Wilkinson
Alex Wilkinson, from North Carolina, is deeply passionate about running, which she turned into a career by starting her own business focused on this pursuit. Her love for running began in high school after transitioning from soccer due to injuries, with her dad being a significant role model in health and fitness.
Shannon Gleespen
Shannon Gleespen, residing in Nashville, Tennessee, is a multifaceted outdoorswoman whose love for the natural world is deeply interwoven with her life as a mother, trail leader, and creative spirit. Her adventurous journey is marked by a dedication to empowering women to explore and steward the outdoors responsibly. As a thru-hiker, climber, and trail runner, Shannon's passion for the outdoors extends beyond personal challenges to include fostering a community that supports and uplifts each other.
Chelsea Wilde
Chel Wilde, based in Seattle, WA, is passionate about creating opportunities for women in the world of snowboarding and skiing. Through her initiative, Shred-It Sisters, Chel has connected over 2,500 women in the Puget Sound area, organizing monthly meetups at local resorts to foster friendship and support among female winter sports enthusiasts.
Irene Ogeto
Irene Ogeto, a Texas native originally from Kenya, is an avid hiker and outdoor enthusiast with a passion for connecting with nature. Although she didn’t grow up camping or hiking, her childhood was spent outdoors with friends, sparking a love for being active outside. During college, Irene discovered hiking and camping, organizing her first camping trip at Lake Ray Roberts State Park in Texas. That experience ignited her passion for the outdoors, leading her to embrace hiking and camping as essential parts of her life. Irene is committed to inspiring and educating others, especially women, to experience the transformative impact of nature and outdoor adventures.

As a Black woman founded and led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Washington State, The Bronze Chapter provides supportive opportunities for underrepresented communities of color to experience nature and the natural world in ways that lead to curiosity, joy, deep listening, and life-long learning.
We Hike to Heal
We Hike to Heal, Inc is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that was established by the founders of the Outdoor Journal Tour in July of 2022. Their mission is to build an inclusive community that normalizes self care, creates a sacred space for healing and adventure, and prioritizes the mental and emotional wellbeing of all women. Because they believe that when women thrive, the world thrives.
Black Girls Trekkin'
Black Girls Trekkin’ (BGT) is a Los Angeles based 501c3 nonprofit, created by Co-founders, Tiffany and Michelle, for Black women who choose to opt outside. BGT seeks to inspire and empower Black women to spend time outdoors, appreciate nature, and protect it. They are building a community that will show the world that Black women are a strong and present force in the outdoors.
Camp Founder Girls
Camp Founder Girls is America's first summer overnight night camp for Black girls, established in San Antonio, TX in 1924. Today Camp Founder Girls carries on the proud legacy of Founder Girls past by providing an immersive week-long overnight camp centered on bravery, confidence, creativity, and strength
Culture Queens Outdoors
Culture Queens Outdoors is a Black, women-focused 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide opportunities for inclusion in the arts and outdoor communities for women, men, and children of color.
A Thousand Summers
A Thousand Summers works to remove the barriers to a high-impact, long-term summer camp experience for families who cannot otherwise afford it. They leverage the power of high-quality residential summer camps and mission-aligned youth mentoring organizations to promote the success of underserved youth across the United States.
